I'm trying to remove my rear view mirror so I can install a new auto-dimming/homelink one. I'm strumped on how to get the old one mirror removed though. There are no screws, just a notch in the bottom of the mirror base. It's impossible for me to see in there clearly and probing with small screw drivers and allen wrench do not indicate (by feel) any kind of spring clip in there.

I've seen some rear view mirror tools on the internet for Fords, but it is unclear if this is for the Mustang. Also, if I could do this job with regular hand tools, I would save myself some money and most importantly, time waiting for a specialized tool.

Anyone know the proper way to remove the mirror? Thanks in advance.
