Rebates when buying out of state

I'd check the fine print on the rebate and see if there are any restrictions. If not, you should be able to get that $5k rebate.

I can't find the rebate you're talking about, but other rebates on Ford's website instruct you to contact the specific dealer to check for residency restrictions, so you might as well contact the dealership and ask.

Yeah, you'll definitely have to get in touch with them. I have a feeling though that that Louisiana rebate is going to be limited to Louisiana residents only, though.

Rebates are based on your zip code - not the dealer's. To claim a rebate, the selling dealer is required to put in your zip code to see what rates/rebates are available to residents in your zip code from Ford Motor Company. That zip code used for the rebates must match the zip code listed on the report of sale that the dealer turns into Ford Motor Company for your sale.

My problem is that I want a automatic transmission. There aren't that many available. A couple in Dallas area, so that's not too far from me.

Tony, rebates will only get better (or even continue) if there's enough new 2008's left to force Ford to keep up the rebates. Once most are sold out, or if they're selling well enough, Ford will reduce or eliminate the rebate, so don't wait too long and miss out.

I waited until the end of the 2006 model year hoping to get a great deal on a leftover '06 after the '07's started arriving and ended up not being able to find what I wanted (and I work at a Ford dealership and can easily get a car from any dealer in our region). I waited too long and missed out. Ended up buying an '07 GT at the beginning of the model year, and missed out on the big rebates for '06's.

It's a fine line between getting the right deal and getting the right car. Don't let the right car pass you by if a decent deal is available now.
