alright my motor has 191k on it. i bought a set of gaskets to rebuild the engine because i thought i had a head gasket leak. but anyways...what should i actually do when i finally get around to doing this. just everything up top...intake gaskets, head gaskets, and oil pan gaskets....or should i go for the gusto and replace everything. the car runs fine now...just dont really want to have my motor blow considering its my only form of transportation. any advice is appreciated

i would get it bored .30 over while you have it out if you want to rebuild it your gonna have to re-place more than the gasket's. but if you dont want to bore it just bu a re-build kit from summit. and put a nice size cam in it and be done also re-palce the valve seals on the heads and put in a new oil pump.

As stated above if you have the block out already...and you got some time...get the full rebuild kit from Summit, it sells for a bit over $400 and includes everthing you need..(gaskets, bearings, pistons, plugs, oil pump, etc.)

And yes go ahead and bore it to a 306 to get a fresh cylinder wall....

Yep if I remember correctly it is a bit over 400...if you have any Mustang magazines some of them have the part number in the ad for the rebuild kit and could help you find it a bit quicker...

Yeah that is my problem is finding a place around where I live that will rebuild it and that has a respectable name...

Good Luck with what you decide to do

Sit down and calculate the costs before you dive in. Its the small things that ad up. Lifters might be bad and need replacing, there's 120. New balancer is advised, there's 80 for a stock one. Gonna need head bolts, there's 40. Etc etc etc.
