I did a search and didn't find much.

So my mom wants me to be safe and said she would buy me 3pt seat belts. Now, I am wondering what ones I should get. Are there any ones that are better than the rest? Like ease of installation wise, price, looks,etc..

Are there any stores to stay away from when buying? I know most mustang sites have them and they are kind of spendy but if they are worth it i'll get them.

Somone point me in the right direction! Thanks!

I got mine from eBay, I believe any would do as long as you can get all the mounting kit

Got mine from eBay too.

Here's the install:

(you'll have to make the top mounting point since 66's didn't originally have a shoulder belt option).

One thing I still need to do to my seatbelts is find a couple of those drop bracket things (anyone know what the official name of the part is?) to lower the top mounting point a few inches. Normally the seatbelt brushes up against my neck a little. I'm short and all seatbelts do that to me. I don't think it's as much of a safety issue as it is really uncomfortable. I did try a couple of those plastic seatbelt clips which adjust the seatbelt perfectly for me, but the stupid things keep falling off when I get out of the car.

I also have minor issues with the inertial reel (it worrks too good and locks up too easily). I think the big problem there is the top mounting point is slightly behind the inertia reel so the belt either has to come out at an angle or the intertia reel has to be tipped back a little. The drop bracket should fix that problem too (at least I hope so).

What about the kits that mount behind the seat below the quarter window? Those look a lot easier to install. I rather not cut into and mess up my new headliner. I know about the spinal crushing issue too, from chelles thread a while back.

My shoulder belts are mounted like this (previous owner). It's better than not having a shoulder belt, so I would do it for a convertible. However, with a roof I would (and will) mount the upper bracket above the window. With the low mounting position the shoulder belt will force compression of the spine in a serious wreck. Not a good thing! Do it right the first time.

There are lots of vendors - and you can beat the Mustang only shop prices easily. Google aftermarket seat belts. Here is one example
