Recommendations on a rear view mirror

My car came without an interior rearview mirror. I've been looking at the Doorman and Pilot brands but they are not getting very good reviews for clarity and quality. Any recommendations? I looked at some 94-05 style OEM mirrors but the sellers on Ebay or Amazon have no idea if they will work on other cars, or if they include the metal mounting base that gets glued to the windshield.

Can someone recommend a mirror setup that is good quality and actually has what I need to mount to my 1979?

So has anyone taken the time yet to install a Gentex rear-view mirror? I managed to score a Gentex 453 pretty cheap on Ebay. The one I bought has the homelink garage door buttons and a Temperature display. I didn't go for the one with the compass/temp combined (who uses the compass when they...

If you do need to put the mirror bracket on the windshield you can go a bit higher. I did on mine and with the double adjustment mirror it seems to be more out of the way.
