I am looking at maybe purchasing at a 91' notch with a bad AOD in it. I have most of the parts around to do a T5 swap on it, but I want to weigh my options on keeping it auto first. I am not sure what company would be best to go with for a reman AOD. I am not looking for a high performance upgraded trans, just a stock rebuilt one. But I want something that is gonna last 120K plus miles like the one in my '87 GT has (what is the possibility of that LOL) . I defeinenlty want to to retain lockup. I am just looking for something for a daily driver. It will never see a track or be beaten on very hard.

I made a nice thread call "Understanding my AOD". Lots of folks chimed in with info, know how and insight. Should be a good read for you.

Found it for you

Whatever you do, go with a company that specializes in Ford or at least domestic performance transmissions (ie one advertised in MM&FF or 5.0). Stay far, far away from a local chain rebuilder.

There are so many the choices, a narrowing it down can be difficult.

I would say choosing a TCI or B&M model would not be a bad choice for a good reliable daily driver tranny, but there are other obvious choices for serious power.
