Anyone know how the headlighs are removed from an 87-93 mustang?

they are bolted on to the back of the header panel with small nuts. you may be able to get to them with the hood up without having to remove the front bumper cover.

Be prepared for all of the studs to come out of the lights. Make sure you have a pair of vise grips. After the lights are out, grab the coarse threaded area of the stud..(the part that goes into the light) and hold it with the vise grips, while you turned the nut on the opposite side to remove it.

As was said above, be prepared for the studs to come right out of the lights. In my case even vice grips couldn't hold on to them in order to unscrew the nut. Eventually I had to cut and drill them out.

So it's all going to come out as one piece like that...turn signal, corner lens and all..?
Looks like this is one of those jobs that should take 5 minutes and ends up an all day project

No, the other lights have to be removed separately. I don't know why the other folks are warning about the studs coming out. I've had mine out a couple of times and haven't had any problems.

The studs have these knarly self-threading ends on them that I suppose could become loose. The light will come out anyway, so I wouldn't sweat it.

it's not really all that hard. one tool i recommend unless u have hands the size of a 5 yr old is to have a finger turn socket ( round with grips for turning with fingers ). yeah i thought... " hey this shouldn't take long, 6 pieces with 3-4 screws each! wow how much easier could that be! " .... well i was wrong. I had 3 guys working with me and it took like an hour and a half to take my stockers out and put in from aftermarket ones. definetly have to get them aimed if thats the route your taking.

i dont remember the sizes but they aren't very big, you will need a deep socket for some of them. i think like 3/8 or 7/16 something like those. good luck.

now that i see that... it was either 7/16 or 11mm. i had a few of each. didnt have any 10mm exactly.

Kevin.. You got me thinking that maybe they were 10mm, so I went out and check.
Nope they're 7/16” or 11mm .
But that doesn't suprise me in the least that yours were 10mm.

Someone told me that the corner lights HAVE to come out before the headlights. I was under the impression that I could just remove the headlights. Which is true?
