Removing Passenger Airbag

Hey, I have a 94 stang GT. I recently hit a deer on the northway which deployed both airbags. I put a MOMO wheel on so that takes care of the driver side, but i cant figure out hwo to remove the passenger. if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it.

Be super careful with the idea of removing the airbags. Your insurance company could refuse coverage if you are ever in an accident and they feel that your injuries could have been prevented by having the bags. 99 times out of 100 it won't matter, but if you get real messed up and require expensive treatment then they could refuse to pay. Just something you should think about.

i tried to email you specs but it says you don't accept em...

from a diagram i have all u have are two screws on the right hand side

i ran out to my car and the cover for the passenger side airbag is on with like velcro. So take that off (if it didn't fly off already) then unscrew the two bolts. One is right-center and the other is on the right hand side almost where it comes to a point. Thats all i've got, i've never tried it before.

I'll put it this way, most insurance companies will call the car "totalled" is the airbags go off... they are hella expensive to work on!!

-as for removing it... I'd take it to a shop instead... spend the money, but don't loose the insurance...

-personally, I'd call around first and make sure you can remove the airbag (both legally, and keeping your insurance in the process...)

Ok to remove/replace the air bag you take off the glove compartment, then there are 2 screws just above the duct work for the heat vent, thescrews are the same size as the screws to remove the glove box they are at the back of the air bag compartment, you will need a short socket/small ratchet, or wrench as it's a tight place, you can feel, or slide teh seat back and leand it back, and put your head under there. either way. loose is towards the drivers side of the car.

I will be calling the insurance agent and possibly an inspection station tomorrow to find out legalities. i know there is an "airbag" deuction on the insurance, if you claim that deduction it would be fraud, and they wouldn't ahve to pay claims if you took that deduction. but as long as it's disclosed there should not be an insurance problem, now federal laws may be different.

I recently bought a 1994 mustang GT convertible thats been wrecked... guess it's time to learn to be a mechanic
