I got a vert. Thinking about losing the top altogether for weight.
Question is, would the wind resistance set me back more than the weight loss would gain?

You would probily not notice any difference, since the top itself isn't really heavy. It's the suport under the car and such where all the weight comes in I belive. But you need them or you will twist the frame. I'm just guessing though, I'm not an expert on this.
why on earth would you ditch the top?
the weight it has is over the rear end. a vert is not quick anyhow, nor do they handle well (compared to a equally equipped notch or even hatch). if you want fast, buy a notch and keep the vert nice. even if you ditch it, what do you gain, like a 1/10 in the 1320? i would not do it.
im not gonna throw it out or anything.
Its just that there is 1-200 lbs of metal frame that put the top up and down.
I doubt that has anything to do with suspension..
