Hi, I've got an 89 GT w/ a B-Cam, Edlebrock Heads, Flowmaster Exhaust, and a few other goodies...one morning I walked out and the car wouldn't start so I checked for spark and have spark so I decided it was a fuel issue so I replaced the fuel pump and in-line filter with a Walbro GSS340 unit, and my underhood fuel pressure gauge shows that I have fuel pressure but the pump keeps running and I hear a "psshhh psshhh" sound from the fuel rail yet the car will not start I was wondering if any of you guys have any input on this?

Try giving your car about 1/4 throttle while turning the key and see if it starts up that way.

check your plugs to see if they are wet or dry

If they are dry, then you need to see if your injectors are cycling.

Check the FACTS, Fuel Air Compression Timing Spark. If the ignition switch went bad you would have no spark at all. If the fuel pump relay went bad the pump would not run at all. If the ignition module went bad, it would probably try to fire just not at the right times if at all. Where did you check for spark, at the plug or at the distributor cap? If you are positive you have spark, try narrowing it down to a fuel delivery issue and spray some carb cleaner (dont use starting fluid) into the intake then try firing it over. If it starts, look deeper into the fuel injectors/fuel pressure regulator. If it does not start, look for improper spark timing or not enough spark to ignite the fuel. Just my .02, not trying to bash anyone elses ideas.
