Replacement seat ????

I've been using my Corbeau CR1's for over a year, love them. A little hard to keep clean, but I come home with sawdust all over me every day. Otherwise, they are comfortable on a 4 hour trip and hold you in the corners like a rock.

check out mansonozz' page. i dig his seats, though i cant remember who made them (Cerullo?). just a personal choice. i like Stangbear's seats too. just what you like and what is comfy. good luck.

I just got my double release harnesses for them in today, hopefully it'll be nice tomorrow and I'll take some pics and post them. Really look sharp with these seats, and wicked comfortable. No more neck chaffing!

OK, here it is. They take a minute longer to get in and out of, but they are so much more comfortable once you're in than the stock belts were. Wish I'd got them a year ago. Oh, I got the lumber supports for these seats and put them in last week too, another worthwhile option.

Hey Stangbear how hard was it to install the lumbar supports?

Easy. The seatback center section is basically a velcro flap you peal up and slide them in how you want, and the hand pump is on an airline so you can snake it around to wherever you want it. Piece of cake.

That sounds like it will fit into the seats that I bought off Ebay. They look like the Corbeau A4's.

if you dont mind my asking, how much do you folks spend on seats? i am afraid to ask. i tend to scavenge seats out of other cars. LOL

My first CR1 cost me $250 delivered- sniped it on ebay. After watching for another one for a year and not seeing any, I bit the bullet and paid $399 for the other one new with free shipping from LRS. The brackets were $70 each, and I wouldn't do it without them. It begs the mention that if I had been willing to spend a bit more all at once, I could have gotten both on ebay together for much less than the $800 a pair cost new, but I thought I could save even more waiting for individual ones because nobody wants just one. It only worked long enough to find one.

Well, I don't always eat well. I live in a trailer- I special ordered it brand new 2004, but it is what it is even if it's a nice one. It's all about priorities. My life kinda revolves around my car, as do my credit cards unfortunately. I like these seats, but even they aren't the real creme of the crop. If I had big money I'd have gone for the Sparco Torinos or Monzas, the Recaro Sports or my fantasy, the Cobra Daytonas or even better, Cobra Milanos. Of course, now we're well over $1000 per seat, which is way too rich for my blood. I do like to think I run top notch parts though, I try. Thanks for your approval.

Stangbear427, how tall are you? Did those Corbeaus increase head/leg room?
I've had my eye on a set of the GTSII's by Corbeau for quite a while, and being 6'6" (should have gotten interested in lowriders, then I could have bought an Impala or a Grand Marquis) I'm nervous about losing room under the steering wheel.

Also how did you attach those harnesses under the stock rear beltst?

I'm 6'. I didn't find an increase. This is a multifaceted situation though- when I first got the seat on ebay, I got a Corbeau slider/bracket on ebay too from someone else. I can say first hand that they are not all the same! I lost so much room between the seat and the steering wheel that I could barely drive the car, or see under my mirror out the windshield. Any Corbeau seat bracket for a Mustang will bolt to any of thier seats, that doesn't mean they are supposed to. They make one with an adjustable height that at the lowest setting is still too high with the CR1, and a non adjustable one with flat sliders which puts the seatbed right back to stock. I had to buy the flat slider one with the new seat, it's been great. OH- Corbeau also makes adaptor plates to bolt their seats to the stock brackets, but they raise the seat. They are only $20, but stay away. The full slider brackets are more like $70, but they are well worth it- far better quality than stock. They are really nice peices. I've found that the memory retention foam of the seat conforms to you over time and buys you a little more room too. My best friend is 6'6, and he drives it without any trouble. Just make sure you get the brackets from a good Corbeau dealer and get the right ones for your seat. If you have a stick car, you may want to look into Maximum Motorsports clutch pedal relocation kit too, it drops the pedal height down to the same as the brake pedal, and gives you way more room for your left leg under the wheel while you're waiting for a shift.

The harnesses are actually designed to bolt to the floor under the back of the seat, I'd have had to drill a hole and get some hardware, or double up one of the sides. They aren't rated for two belts off one point so that was out, and I had doubts about the structural integrity of bolting it to the floorpan too- since when I bought this car the front seat bolts were ripped right out of the floor from doing brakestands. I've also read too many stories about guys getting their spines crushed in accidents because their shoulder harness attatched lower than the shoulders- it should attatch right at shoulder level behind the seat. An alternate schematic in the distructions was attatching at the C-pillar, which I liked. It was a PIA, I had to pull out the backseat and pull the side panels out of the way. The '91's had shoulder belts in back, so I just doubled it up on the stud for the rear belt retractor. There is almost never anyone in my backseat, and it's a much stronger stud than the others. Just elbow grease: that one has a locknut and with my woofers in the way, and not wanting to take the side panels out of the car, there isn't much room to swing a wrench and not enough clearance for a ratchet or air tool. It was worth it though, I like the effect. Glad you noticed it. With the double release harness I can disconnect it to swing the seatback forward to let somebody in the back seat. Of course I took the car right out and started beating on the tires slamming on the brakes at speed, these things hold you in nice. No jerking around like the stock belts. Overall nice parts

Thanks for all the info on the seats. I called Corbeau , and they were pretty helpful, but what seat company would say something like, "Oh, no don't use our seats in a Mustang, yer head'll be against the ceiling"?. It's good to hear someone who doesn't make money off them tell me they'll fit in a Fox well . Aparently, Corbeau also offers a "tailoring" to their seats that basically means they can shave a little of the padding to make it about an inch deeper and increase headroom.
I checked out the clutch pedal kit...how does that mount?

Also that's a slick install with the harnesses, the whole spine-crunching thing doesn't seem to sink in with a lot of people .
