My 3 speed speedo cable clipped to the left frame rail but the new one needs to go the the right side of the car to enter the 4 speed toploader.

Can someone tell me if:
1. The cable crosses the tunnel on the firewall and then clips to the right side frame. If so, how many clips are used and where are they attached (approximately)?

2. The cable goes back to the trany on the left side of the tunnel and then crosses over the tunnel at the rear of the trany? Again, how many clips and approximately where?

3. Something else?

Thank you very much.

You really can´t see it from the hood... I think it goes over tranny rear support and then just over tranny. It goes in from the oval hole in the floor, on the height of your toes, when sitting...Does this help?

I have only one clip, just before coming inside..

Thanks for the reply.
I guess the real issue I want to resolve is how many clips are used with the 4 speed, where they are located, and if the cable crosses the tunnel at the firewall or does it go back on the drivers side and then cross under the shifter. It makes more sense for it to cross on the firewall but I am just trying to confirm. It seems that if there is only one clip, the cable would eventually come in contact with the exhaust, trany, etc...
If I can't get any confirmation here, I will probably guess and use tie wraps to locate it.

Thanks.

stock, But mine exits the firewall follows the brake line to a clamp.
it did go over the tailpeice and in.
Burnt cable.

I have mine now routed over the top in the middle and in.
Has been working fine and no burns.

Route it which ever way you can, so it doesn't come into contact with the exhaust. You may need to also change the driven gear to work with the 4 speed, seeing as yours went into the left side originally, might be turning backwards with the 4 speed.

I ended up tie-strapping it to the brake line where it goes over the tunnel and I moved the clip from the left frame to the right frame and clamped it down. It's loose enough that I should be able to install it into the tranny and then tighten it up to keep it away from the exhaust, etc.
Thanks!
