I'm experimenting with oil additives in an attempt to regain some compression in my tired old beast. 165k on the original rings. I've just started with the Valvoline Maxlife Engine Protector and if that doesn't show noticeable gains, step up to the RESTORE.
Has anyone tried any of this stuff?

it is very thick stuff, so it might curb oil consumption. I wouldn't expect anything else though.

RESTORE is great stuff you'll be happy with it. You've gotta remember tho, that stuff is an oil additive, its not an engine rebuild, so dont expect it to last forever or work any magic. You will be pretty happy with it tho.

Thanks guys. I'll measure the compression in a few (days...weeks?).

I wonder if the lead in Restore will damage the O2 sensor?

The lead and oil should not get to the 02 sensor anyway. If it does you have major problems elsewhere.

I used restore in my Mustang for awhile, never saw or felt any appreciable difference in anything...
