On night I was going 4400RPM in my explorer in OD. My speedo only goes to 85 also. I wish I could find a way to calculate the speed. The speedo was on D (for drive). LMAO.

I've had my '93 beater explorer (4.0L) to "R" ...granted it was down a big hill on the interstate and explorer's speedo with anything over around 80 is probably questionable....I was confused tho... it was pointing to reverse... so was I going backwards that fast? LOL

A9L's basically cut computer function at 6500rpm. Its not really a fuel or sprak cut, it just chaos, and very harsh. What msot people with stock 5.0's think is a rev limiter is really valve float.

A chip CAN fix this. You generally leave that limit there (unless you wanna rev past 6500), and add the fuel cut where you want your redline....ie 6200. If you set the hysteresis pretty narrow, it is a very gentle limiter.

Unless you're running forced induction or juice. Fuel limiters are a heart attack. Imagine winding out under full boost or spray when a fuel based rev limiter kicks in. Now you're fuel/air ratio is critical and beyond. I'm taking bets on whether the the pistons go through the hood or out the bottom at that point.
