Ok, so this is the second time i've been approached just this same way by a camaro with Ricekiller.com on the back window big as day. So I'm driving down the highway minding my own business, when a black vert late model camaro comes up and starts reving next to me. I pay absolutely no attention to him because i don't street race. He does his little put the auto in D move a couple of times to be ready for me, cause i only look fast, but i'm givin him no play, not even looking at him.

Here is part of the problem and why i think you must fail an IQ test to get those stickers for your car. Each of the two times these guys have done this it has been almost scripted, like they were taught the only way to win a race on the highway is to take advantage of this exact situations. So, i am in the fast lane, traveling about 75 with another car about 8 lengths ahead, and he is next to me with not a soul ahead of him doing all of his greatest showoff stuff. Even if i wanted to run him, where was i going to go???? This is either pure genious or absolute baffoonism on his part but i am starting to think that to get the Ricekiller car of the week, you must attend an idiot training and fail the subsequent IQ test, then you are in there like swimwear.

So just a little rant and i hope it hurts your feelings a little bit if you are dumb enough to carry around those stickers and be a moron on America's highways. If you are going to be an idiot, do it alone, in a dark alley with a blind dead end corner not too far away. Take care

If not, remember to drive safe because some of us have 3 kids, a wife, and a couple of dying family members to take care for quite a while longer and don't deserve to be wiped off the face of the earth by a bumbling idiot with the IQ of a dear tick.

The left lane is not the fast lane, it is the passing lane, and if you aren't passing someone then you shouldn't be in it.

So then if that stands to reason, i should have used the non-passing lane on the right to pass the guy who was in front of me, right? What is the difference between a fast lane (you are going faster than everyone else, passing everyone) and a passing lane (you are going faster than everyone else, passing everyone)?

Let's look at this from the perspective of the Camaro. It is very likely the only way he can beat a Mustang, any Mustang, is to find one boxed in behind another car. He may have a chance against ricers, but not against a real muscle car. So, cut him some slack, he's one of the unfortunate souls to not be driving one of our cars.

On the other hand, he's just an idiot, knows not what he does and should be both ignored and forgiven. Oh, and avoided, dangerous drivers should be avoided. It's nice they have those stickers to identify themselves so the rest of us can go on high-alert and be prepared to take evasive action.

As for the left lane, I have lived in Indiana all my life and was taught the left line is for passing, not driving. However the vast majority of Illinois drivers (and I see a lot of them where I live) drive all day in the left lane, often even slower than those in the right lane. I have to conclude that left lane usage conventions are regional and vary state-to-state. Or that Illinois drivers are idiots since they are different than Indiana drivers. Or that Indiana drivers are idiots, wait, not that, not that....

ON my section of highway 35mile commute to work we have a local State trooper that runs an unmarked Vista Blue mustang, virtually identicle to mine, 18"s, Gt Pkg. Window tint. So luckily i don't run into this sort of situation with ricers/idiots...I did pull up beside the car one day when he was in the middle lane (knowing it was the cop) just to waive at him, and he gave me a thumbs up. lol.
I want to stage a picture/video of him pulling me over bacause the only difference is my roush louvers and his blue strobes lol. I think it would make a great picture shaking hands with his car parked behind mine blues flashing.

A problem though for me is when i am in the "fast" lane and i am coming up behind people, they see me and slow down and then don't have enough speed to finish their pass so we are all grid locked arcoss 3 lanes all going 65...make for long trips to work some days.

People who do this I just ignore. My 08 LOOKS superfast. The stance, rims, shaker hood....Now gratnted, I have done some work, cams, intake, tune...(need to update the sig) but it truly looks like it is running with 500+ HP. That and the fact its a mustang, I get everything from vets, to M3's trying me on my way to work on the turnpike.

Heh I just look at em, wave and keep on driving. Sooner or later they get the message. Heck thats why I look at em. Yeah I know your there and I am not paying you no attention.

As far has the lane thing goes, I lived in Germany for 8 years, and the left lane, well you do not get in it unless you have a car that can maintain 120+ So here I do not drive in it. In truth nothing burns me more than the person driving in the left lane, doing 55....when the speed limit is 65....

I don't think the left lane has been an actual passing lane for quite some time... at least where I'm from.

Then do me a favor, tell all the other New Yorkers going to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods that the left lane is still the passing lane in CT. Every weekend I get to ride behind some old fart in the left lane at 55 going to the casino to piss away their social security check in a slot machine.

The difference is that if you call it the fast lane, that blue haired old bag will sit her fat butt in the fast lane all day because 57 miles an hour is flying in her mind. It is called the passing lane because you are supposed to pass and then get over. That way faster traffic does not have to go around you on the right.

screaming roush. i wouldn't really consider those cars an easy task. i've never raced one ,but i know what they can run with a good driver.

old teacher was running 13.1 consistantly bone stock with a auto vert just driving away.

thats about 4 tenths better then what our cars are documented to run stock. now picture a hard top 6 speed with a gear swap. easy 12 second runs.

and i don't think i've seen a stock one on the road for a while.

whenever i'm on the highway i'm either in the middle lane or the right lane. left lane i've found too many problems with people thinking your in the go fast lane so your ready to race. and sometimes those people that think that are cops.

i think alot of street racers are afraid to go to the track. my brother was big into it when he was my age and so was my dad. my dad would go to the track also. but he also street raced, i guess everyone did back then. but my brother went to the track once, and just did horrible. beat cars on the street that you wouldn't expect to have a chance.

i've done 2-3 highway pulls with my old car. but i'm not into street racing. too much to risk. wreck your car, get tickets, insurance goes up, less money for modifications. i'm going to the track tomorrow if weather is alright. thats the way to go.
