Ricer for a Pace Car at Coca Cola 600

NASCAR...yawn....definetely not for me. I'll stick to F1, Grand Touring, Grand Am and Rally thank you. Plus if Americans made cars a little comparable to the Japanese/ European counterparts we wouldn't have this problem. Compare a pos cobalt to a new civic or tdi and tell me they're in the same league.

Actually toyota does trade on the NYSE, try lookin up (TM)

Yes toyota is a japanese company and in the end the profit does go back over to japan. But at the sametime they put a ton of money into this country and provide a lot of jobs for american and canadian citizens. Whats ford and GM doing on the other hand, well they are firing people, closing plants, and having more vehicles built down in mexico which in turn take more jobs away from americans.

Here are some facts:

In 2005, Toyota produced more than 1.55 million vehicles, more than 1.3 million engines and nearly 400,000 automatic transmissions at its North American manufacturing facilities.

By 2008, Toyota will have the annual capacity to build nearly two million cars and trucks, 1.44 million engines, and 600,000 automatic transmissions in North America.

Annual purchasing of parts, materials, goods and services from North American suppliers total more than $28 billion.

I still don't understand why no one doesn't get all mad about chrysler/dodge. In the long run their profit goes back to germany. Whats the difference between them and toyota?

Well think if peopel would have never bought import cars in the first place, they would have had no reason to out source the labor and parts, rather WE would be exporting OUR cars cause they would be better....it got fugged up a long time ago and no one gives a damn enough to change it.

As long as Americans want the most for their money and want to spend as little as possible we will always be importing. Whether it's cars or mp3 players. You can't have cheap, good cars and happy workers willing to work for less at the same time. In this case you can't have your pie and eat it too. One of the only things that are mostly U.S. produced are weapons systems and other military devices. Thank god for wars, and the presidents that start them that keep our economy afloat :notnice:

I thought I was the only one upset with toyota coming in. I still can't get over DJ going with those ricers next year. What are they going to bring next eclipses and preludes? Where does this garbage end? Nascar has always been about domestics (Ford, Chevy, Dodge) and now they are ruining it by bringing in the ricers.

I think that there was a lot of politics, and money, involved with DJ going to Toyota. Since he has won a points title Toyota has a provisional. Meaning that there will be a Toyota in every race even if Jarrett doesn't can't qualify on his times and speed. If you don't think that the big boys in NACAR, S left out cause it sure as hell ain't stock, didn't have a hand in this then I got some waterfront property in AZ to sell ya.

True, but thats the way the capitalist america works, free enterprise. You can't force people to buy certain products. In reality american car manufactures only have themselves to blame on this. They should start with better build quality but I can tell you from being a ford tech I sware the vehicles keep getting worse. Thats the number one reason why there is a tundra in my driveway not a F-150.

How about we take our heads out of our asses and realize that a japanese "import" isnt a "ricer"

you cant even attempt to sound more ignorant if you tried.

Toyota coming in is only going to make the sport evolve for the better, the same way when dodge came back in it a few years ago pumped new life into the sport, made the races more exciting, etc.

Also, this line kills me.....
i hate crapcar now... first its the winston that goes.. and now its toyota coming in.. as well as taking out the tauros.. one of the best running bodys ford's had

FORD STOPPED MAKING THE TAURUS FOR CONSUMER USE!!!!!! Dont blame NASCAR for that.

Seriously, a lot of people in this thread need a damn reality check, and maybe a brush to remove the sand from thier vaginas

I understand that Toyota / Nissan / Honda all bring jobs to the American economy when they have plants or R&D centers located within our boarders. But where do those budgets come from? Where are the upper managment meetings held? I bet all of the big dollars are still in the eastern half of the world. Shoot Toyota is building a new R&D center in Ann Arbor Michigan. That means new jobs for lots of my fellow automotive people. What I am whining about is the fact that money we spend in the global economy needs to find it way back to American banks were it can accure interest. That interest usually finds it's way back into the pockets of the general public and thus back into the economy. Ford, GM and Chrysler (the American half) all do this. The fact that I don't watch NASCAR [non-stock car racing] anymore is a coincidence.

Look at it this way. Most of those assembly line, lower wage earning, NASCAR watching people are going to be spending all of their money here, in the U.S. on products made in Japan(electronics), Tawain and China (WalMart) and the like.
The bigwigs in the American companies. You really think they're not spending all of their money on expensive European stuff for the houses? All of those expensive Exotic supercars are bought by the rich people here.

I really don't understand the part about "back into the pockets of the general public." Yeah right. The only reason we "save" money when we buy things is because the big American companies use cheaper labor in other countries to make all of their crap. So the bigwigs have more money to spend on their Eurocrap.

I'm glad someone is sending jobs over here (Michelin, BMW, and Japan for ex.). Because we sure as hell aren't going to be getting more jobs from "American" companies (Mexico + China for ex.). Textiles anyone?

Also from my personal experience, I worked for a Japanese company sitting down assembly line work. Making $15+ an hour for the easiest thing in the world. Then I worked for an American company, standing assembly line, fast paced, busting my ass, for $11 an hour. Working 10-12 hours a day. Two 7 minute breaks and a 20 min. lunch break.
I don't know about you but the Japanese company was putting money "back into the pockets of the general public" more than the American company.

There is no American Economy anymore. It's a Global Economy.

For the original reason of this thread....i quit watching Nascar when i began to think it was fixed. There are numerous things I could point out to back my theory up, but I am keeping this short. And as for the foriegn businesses over here....at least they are doin it here, employing us and helping our economy. At our plant we have given concessions to keep our jobs over the last 4-5 yrs. But guess what, our plant was told in January we will be closed by 2007. I will be umemployed by June 23 of this year. 11 yrs with a place. Making them millions. But instead my job is going to where they can pay the person $3-$4 an hour without benefits. Not to mention all of the laws they will not have to worry about like pollution, epa, workers rights, child labor and so on and so on.....On the bright side, if there is one, at least i will get a retention bonus as well as free college...THANKS BILL CLINTON AND NAFTA - I LOVE YOU BOTH.

BTW I am not bitter about losing my job:rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh:

If ya'll look 99% of "ricers" arn't Toyota's they are Honda's. I call rice like the rest of ya's but Toyota is not rice. I own a Toyota truck my dad bought it in 86 and I ran it up to about 3 years ago. Blown HG and broken flex plate were the only major problems it ever had. HG was only because my dad would let it sit at idle for hours on end at fire calls. Toyota's are damn good vehicles. They are in the truck series why not be in the car on too.

And for the comment about neons on a stang just because you have neons on a stang don't make your car rice
