Nope, that clears the stored codes from the ECU... Search for the name JRICHKER. He has the perfect write up on how to do it.

(it's very easy) You only need a 2" piece of wire with the copper exposed on both ends to jam into the connector terminals. The computer does the rest and will give you an idea of what is wrong with the car.

Yeah, it's really not hard...

Look for the two connectos by the drivers strut tower (hear the hood hinge). Take your piece of wire and plug it into the connectos accoding to the websites diagram and then just turn the key into the 'on' position. This starts the KOEO (key on / engine off) tests. Next, cycle the key to 'off' and then start the car. This starts KOER (key on / engine running). Record all your codes on a scrap of paper and then refer to the website for your numbers.

Remeber, the flash is the numbers. Example: flash, flash, flash, flash... [pause] flash. Then the flash repeats. This would be code 41.

It is very easy... It'll take less than 5 minutes and it's free.

I've got a "SUNPRO" code scanner that was given to me years ago and i'll bet it's exactly what i need. Now i just have to remember where i put it.

WalMart had scanners for the cars for about $20 a couple of years ago - complete with a code book, instructions, etc. Was a good investment -- pulling your diagnostic codes is the place to start.
