Hey whats up everybody,,, I have a quick question.... How did y'all get the bolt on the right side(under the passenger seat) loose easily. The bolt on the bottom, its directly pointed at the frame. Maybe I just don't have an applicable tool/socket for the job, but i just wanted to see what you guys(or gals) have used on ur 96plus 4.6's. When I put my borla h on 2 years ago it was a pita(i had very little tools) and had sombody do it while i went to work so i'm not sure how they got to it. Yesterday we attacked my buddies 97 gt, putting an H on his also. I was surrounded by tools and still couldn't find somthing to fit up in that little space. :owned: Eventually rounded the damn nut off cuz we couldn't get anything to get a proper grip and had to cut the friggin thing out. lol :bang:

Someone told me to use a crows foot sprocket or somthing... lol what the hell is that??

I know its a stupid simple question but honestly... i need some help with this cuz i had to go through e-check and take my off road H off.. now i want to put it back on and not spend $$ to have someone put it back on. Thanks to anyone in advance!!!

I can't remember the exact sizes of anything, but I just made good use of swivels and extentions. Sorry I can't be more of a help, but I think it just takes the right use of a swivel or universal joint to get it to work.

2 12 inch 1/2 drive extensions the correct socket and an impact universal joint is all that is needed. Either use an impact or a breaker bar and it will come right off with no busted knuckles.

another way is to loosen the engine mounts and use some extensions between the unibody and firewall if your cat is in the way like mine was on the original hpipe , after you get the stock one off there is more room without the cats in the way . replace the studs . use brass nuts. use lock washers and blue loctite . and you will be fine

Heat it up with a Propane torch use PB Nut Blaster and use a long extension with swivel. I did find a unique way that I have not heard. In order to get socket in an around the sensor you need to take a deep well, (15mm I think, whatever the size of the Hpipe to header nut is) and grind it down about 1/4". I used 3/8 drives. What this does is to make the socket fit staight down on the bolt with your swivel attached in the gap between the sensor and the h-pipe bolt and nut. Without this the deep well is too long and of course the standard socket to shallow. Without Grinding it, it will not fit in this gap and be at slight angle on the nut making it difficult to get off.

Using the 1/2 drive and 1/2" swivel sounds intriguing though. Try both but use the heat. It will expand it so it will come off easier. When it is a rusty or uncooperative nut or bolt heat is the answer! Good Luck! It is PFA (Pulled From A!#) engineering.

Swivel extension, had to swivel it to a correct position and then duck tape it in that position so it wouldn't fall over. That bolt is a bitch to get to.

I highly recommend penetrating oil as well. I used an impact and at first when I tried to remove it the damn thing wouldnt budge. Put some penetrating oil on and let it sit for like 10 mins and then used the impact again and it came right off. Also the use of a swivel is necessary.

You Need 12 inche of extentions and a swivel connector grab your 15 mill deep and reg socket (the nut toward the front of the car is easier to remove once you break it free with the deep socket if you change over to your shallow socket for clearance reasons) :D
