Road and Track Mustang issue - Goat infiltrator!

Page 64 of April's R&T, right smack dab in the middle of the Mustang reviews, there's the ad for the 05 GTO. Sneaky b@$tards!

Funny thing is, though, the ad mentions the 4.6 second 0-60 time in the midst of an article where the writers cannot quit mentioning the stock GT's 4.9 second 0-60!

Personally, I've nothing against the GTO, I just feel bad for it's loyal fans having to drive a powered-up Dodge Neon. It's just uninspiring. Pontiac shoulda done better by those guys shelling out for the GTO.

I love to see people focus on nothing more than specs that they actually make a decision to buy a car over a quarter mile or 0-60 time. Who cares if my car goes 2 tenths of a second faster or slower than another car. Hillbilly performance mentality. Rather than focusing on commfort and ergonomics, looks, HANDLING, among many other major factors, all you ever hear is Quarter Mile times. Hey BillyBob! I got that new car that goes real fast in a straight line!! Yeehaw!!!

For the record...I've yet to see any independent tests get a 4.6 sec 0-60 in the GTO. That's a GM number. Best I've seen in a professional review is 4.8 secs in an '05 GTO.

Everyone is quick to slag the styling of the new GTO but for all of its blandness, it's actually quite the sleeper. I wouldn't mind 400hp in a car that the Police thought was just a Cavalier... maybe they'd stop following me! :bang:

Bland & boring looking DEFINES a sleeper. If looking at it raises your pulse, it's not a sleeper, is it?

If I wanted a sleeper, I'd buy Granny's old station wagon for $1000 and throw a carbed big block in it, not spend $30,000+ (before massive GM rebates) for somebody else to build my sleeper.

If I wanted a Grand Prix with a T56 and an LS2, I wouldn't pay GM a $10K premium to build it for me.

That aside, the GTO is actually a nice car. Just marketed completely wrong... go figure. It's Pontiac.
