Been running hot a few days and today the pump started squealing. Took a better look at the system today and there's a big dent and split in the intercooler with a coolant leak.

You'd think they put a mesh down there or something...

thats the heat exchanger...but it equally sucks...would warranty cover something like that? or is that considered "wear and tear"?

I highly doubt this is covered under warranty.

To me (in my mind anyway...), the intercooler (system?) consists of 2 heat exchangers, a pump, coolant, and send/return lines... is it common to just call the exchanger after the 1st compression stage the intercooler? If so call me edumacated now!

So yeah, I took a rock to one of my heat exchangers. Specifically the one that hangs low off the front of my car and says "hit me" on it lol

$926 repair estimate. At least the failing clutch pack is covered under warranty.

the heat exchanger is like a radiator, the coolant for the intercooler system is cooled there, then pumped into the intercooler by the supercharger, on your car the intercooler should be on top of the supercharger head unit from what I understand. The cooler water gets pumped into the intercooler and it cools the air passing through it then the blower compresses it into the engine.

Previous years the blower compressed the air, then it went through the intercooler and into the engine.

Yup yup... I used to wear nice clothes and design heat exchange systems for a living. Now I know that specifically the "intercooler" is the exchanger at the top of the supercharger
