rounded the spark plug..

Today I was doing a spark plug change and I wasn't paying attention to the angle of the plug on the 2nd rear-most cylinder on the passenger side. And I didn't have a swivel with me, so I tried to work the plug out without removing the fuel rail. (BAD idea) So my socket will no longer catch the ridges on the spark plug. (rounded)

What can I do now?

Use a metric or a standard (whichever you didn't use the first time) of equivalent size, and see if you can get it to grab.

If that doesn't work, get the next smaller size deepwell socket than you were using, and hammer it while turning it loose with the ratchet.

I have the full set of these in deep and shallow, I love them they work great.. They cost me over 500 bucks for the full set but man they have saved my ass a few times.

Should I get it in 5/8" since it's a spark plug? Or go down 1 metric size?

that one is the 5/8 I linked to you and it's intended to take out rounded off fastners so it's sized right for what you need. You might be able to find similar deep well twist sockets cheaper at sears or somthing but this is what I use.

Cool you may want to consider the sears one then it's probally a hell of a lot cheaper then the snap on ones. Snap-on makes great stuff but it's geared and priced for professionals that will use them often. You may be able to get a set of craftsman ones for a little more than snappy sells one socket for.
