I might get some Royal purple for my tranny fluid and i have a question about it. In the Jegs catalog it has the Max ATF and the Synchromax. At first i thought i would need the ATF but then the description for the synchro said "for manual trans that specify auto transmission fluid". So i'm a bit confused here, so the Max ATF or the Synchromax stuff?

i have a 5spd btw, thanks.

Use the ATF for an auto. The royal purple products kick a$$ incase you haven't ever used them. The Synchromax is typicaly used in 4 wheel drive applications and 'hard duty' vehicals. It will work just fine in your tranny though. B&M makes a fluid called 'stick shift' that's a little lighter, you might like it better for everyday driveing.

Most people say that Royal Purple is an overpriced ripoff... I have never used it and I do not plan to.

Recommended fluid for my TKO is GM Synchromesh. That stuff's not cheap, either. I think it's a few bucks per bottle more than the Royal Purple Synchromax.

I owned two Grand Marquis. 5.0's. One got 255 and timing chain broke, kinda just a dumb thing, I could have changed it anytime I wanted in a few hours, never did. The other got 330k. I put just about 320k total between the two.
Used nothing but RP, RP is all I use still, in my Stang, and in my VR6 GTI with 170k original, and believe me, I beat it ten times worse than the stang.

I use the RP Max ATF in my T-45, shifts like butter. The Syncromax made my transmission grind on upshifts (yes I had the proper level and I did a flush so don't call bs on my experience). During the winter months I think it gets too viscous and the gears can't mesh properly

If they come out with something pink colored, I'd run that. For now, I'm fine with black or red colored fluids.

Until I break down and buy one from you Scott, then it'll be cheapo walmart oil in the worlds fastest N/A modular

Seriously though I'm probly gonna pony up and drop some RP in my tranny next flush. The MGW kinda fixed some of my issues, but not all... so I'm gonna give it a shot. less than 60 bucks in fluids vs rebuilding my tranny... I'll try

from what i have heard fomr numerous sources, RP in the engine is far form the best. mobil 1 or amsoil is all that will ever go in my motor. but the rear i will use RP (RP 75W-140 is $10 a quart, as comapred to $18 for M1). GM synchromesh i can get for $6 and change per quart . list IIRC is 10 and change?
