I have a 1970 mustang with a 289 which is overbored 60. This has a msd ignition system. On the bottom, it has a slot for a rmp limiter. It came with a 6000rpm limiter in it right now. I want to know if that is the best limiter for it. Could I go higher? I can't seem to find much on it. Thank you.

Depends on how your motor is built ,what rods ,what pistons, what valve springs and what bearings did you use with the crank .Is it stroked or standard rod length ?

As far as I know it is standard rod length. I was not the one who rebuilt this engine so I do not know the specifics of everything. What would be the best RPM limiter for a standard 289?

For a stocker 6000 maybe 6500 if if you are not afraid of spinning a rod bearing or blowing a cast piston .
