I'm pretty sure you can run the other way (auto comp in a manual) so maby you can I would think so. But someone correct me cause I'm not 100% sure on this

I have always heard you can run the 5spd w/ the automatic computer but not the automatic w/ the 5spd computer.

I also forgot with the research I've been doing, you can not run a manual ecu with an automtic, but you can run either ecu with a manual.

Are you sure? I have an A9P in my car (89 GT w/T5) and I was told that the A9P was used in the california cars and are basically the same as an A9L but does something to the egr to help it pass emmisions better.

yes im sure.. and im unaware of that part.. what i know is that the A9P doesn't back off the timing like a A9L does.. A9L backs off the timing in between shifts.. A9P is made to give you its all, 24/7

Thanks. That may explain the hanging rpm problem I have had before.

before i swapped over to a T5 my A9P puter died so I borrowed a buddies A9L and it worked fine with the AOD for a week. Now I'm running a Autozone computer thats a rebuilt A9P with my T5 and have no issues....so either way they work. Hope that helps.

It cant be that much of a difference since both AOD and T-5 cars were rated at the same power, passed the same emissions testing and have the same supporting hardware (injectors, fuel pump, ignition system...etc..).

I cannot image what difference it would make between the computers. Slightly different timing? More fuel? What is the actual showstopper here? I'm sure it would run "just fine".
