So car is now out of emisson standards in my area and with it being more of a track car, occasional drive to a cruise in. I decided to swap over to carb set up.
Car came with 302 with SVO aluminum heads when I bought the car with stock intake bigger TB. Ditched the EFI kept the heads went with edelbrock air gap intake and holley 650 dp vac secondaries.
On start up as I was adjusting carb I noticed nothing I did really helped with the running rich. I noticed drivers side exhaust smelled fine, no smoke. Passenger side would have puff of smoke occasional but was so rich it would burn your eyes. I can get it to idle on its own at about 850rpm but it seems to choke itself out after a few minutes unless you play with the throttle.
Have read that with these heads you have to you use Specific ford racing intake gaskets. I used felpro originally. Can a different gasket really make that big of a difference. It acts like it's got vacuum leak but I can find anything. Kinda stumped on this one.
