my car is running sluggish as hell down low and it also detonates when not warmed up. i took it to midas and they tried to pull any codes but all it came up was no data........ they sadi my computer was disconected or something...... what the hell could make it do that?

also i can hear my fuel pump when at idle over my exhaust. that means it is proably fixing to go out right?

my fuel pump have been doing that ever since i had my car. even the new one did it. i don't have any catalytic converters so my exhaust has a very deep rumble at idle(only flowmasters). as far as your computer being disconnected, i believe your car wouldn't even crank at all!

i might not trust someone at a shop to know how to pull codes (a guy with a 95 went to the parts store and they used an obd 2 scanner on it).

do it yourself with a paperclip, test light, or reader (25 bucks). i know Jrichker has posted what it means when there is no code output. i cant remember.

good luck.

When I put the hypertech chip in my car I started hearing my pump. If you have one of those that might be what he was talking about

how many horses do you have, cause i heard that to big of pipes will hurt you before they help you, if you don't have enough power. check around and see what people have said to be on the posts

If you don't have enough power that 3'' exhaust could not be helping much. I would also check the timming as well.

we can all guess all we want (and i agree with your ideas), but we need him to try to pull codes on his own/with stang friend, etc so we know as much objective info as we can. that said, if i were to guess, i might think he EGR is tipping in early/too much. but we need more info from him.
G-man, where did you go?

ok here is what i have found out. we checked the timing on the car and we set it back to the stock 10 degree timing and i couldnt even put it into gear without it dying and the idle was really lousy. we had to turn the thing close to an inch so it would run halfway decent. i also disconnected the egr and it didnt run any better or worse. but since we checked the timing my transmission has been going crazy also. when at a stop and i give it gas sometimes it acts like it is not in gear and just revs and when i am going like 70 and start slowing down it acts like it doesnt know what gear it is suppose to be in and it will downshift then upshift until i am going at like around 35 mph. well i hope this helps a little if you need more info just ask and i can check. i am going to take it into the shop tommorow because the trans is still under warranty.

for the trans stuff, id make sure the TV cable is adjusted properly and that the fluid is topped off - the rest id let the shop do.
good luck.

Check the fuel pressure, you the fuel filter may be clogged up. Also try cleaning your MAF sensor.
