??s about replacing battery

Drove the car last sunday for about 200 or so miles and parked it in my garage. Tried starting it up Thursday night and the battery was near dead. I know from reading past threads about making sure radio is off, and the heater blower is off. Luckily I have a battery charger/starter/trickler so once i hooked it up it started right up. I am just concerned about this battery holding a charge. My question is:
If I decide to replace the battery, would I lose my custom 93 performance tune with the 4:10 gear settings?
Do I need to replace the factory tune before disconnecting the battery and installing the new battery and then load back my performance tune?
Does the on board computer have some sort of RAM or ROM that holds the performance tune settings even though there is no power?

Any help would be appreciated...talked to my Ford dealer and they want me to bring in the car for an electrical test. Don't think that's it with so many people having this problem. I don't think Ford ever issued a TSB on this because they have yet to figure it out. Correct?

You do not have to replace the factory tune for a battery replacement. The computer's ROM holds your tune file(stock or custom), and thus it's not deleted when the battery is disconnected. The only data that's deleted is what's in the KAM(keep alive memory) -> max speed driven, max rpm reached, and any long term adjustments that the computer makes to the tune as determined by your driving style. I left a DiabloSport canned tune in my car's computer when I recently had the battery replaced, and had no problems.
On the other hand, if you feel that your dealer is strict regarding aftermarket mods, and may void your warranty because of them, then you will want to reinstall the stock intake and stock tune before taking the car in.

Finally, the one thing that you must do is to tell your dealer not to upgrade the stock tune. That will mess things up for your custom tune.

Can I ask you why you had to replace your battery?

You're welcome.
It was bad with only 26 months on it. But the dealer did replace it under warranty.

Whenever I've let the car sit for more than 7-10 days ? the battery was always completely dead as this has been driving me nuts for over the past 2 years and even after taking it to 3 different dealerships that replaced 2 of the batteries under warranty within an 8 month period and then having 2 different field service engineers test the entire charging system in which they did battery run down and voltage meter testing ? the results always came back normal and the only explanation was the KEEP ALIVE MEMORY will kill a fully charged battery within 30 days and perhaps as long as 60 days MAX and the only solution they recommended was to install a battery tender whenever the vehicle is not in use beyond 7 or more days and although I haven't experienced any further battery failures since installing the battery tender ? I'm still not convinced and also plan on having the SMART JUNCTION BOX and PCM tested as well....
