Here is my problem. I almost have my stang the way I want it in the handling department at least as soon as I put my new suspension components on. The only things left are major upgrades to the engine/drivetrain and wheels.
I have 78,000 miles on my car, it is a daily driver and I am looking for a well balanced car. What that means to me is a great handling car and more power, but not too much power where traction goes out the window. I would like to have around 330-350 rwhp. What I really want is a roots or screw type s/c running about 6psi. I don't want to spend the money to forge the engine and since my car would be a street car, I don't need more than 350 rwhp. Before you say it, I have already thought about Hp being addicting, and I have already decided that 400 rwhp is not what I want.
So my problem is how do I get to my HP goals. I could go NA, but that would yield less power unless I spent a crap load of money, or I could go with a S/C which is also expensive. I have thought the perfect solution is the Ford supercharger, but they don't have an install kit for a 2002. I have thought about just going with the KB 6 psi kit, but they are almost $4,000. The Ford s/c is just over $2,000 and an install kit couldn't be more than a $1,000. I could see paying $3,000 or less for a s/c for that power level but not $4,000. I don't need room to grow like the KB offers. What I need to know is, if Ford has started offering their s/c for 99's+ with the proper install kit or where I could find a used KB 1.7 or a used Saleen(eaton roots) blower for cheap.
If I don't go with a s/c than I would probably go with gears and VT's stage I cams, and I would just have to settle for under 300 rwhp. How much power would porting my heads give me with VT stage one cams. If I add headers, they would be Bassani headers not lt's.
I don't want NOS, I want the power all the time.
