Roush s281 Floor Mats??

Anyone know where to get a set of the 96 style s281 floor mats? They're the ones with Saleen s281 embroidered in the middle. I need them in black and they're never on eBay...

If you run onto 2 let me know too. I need a S281 set. I have seen 2 on ebay, both worn. My passenger one isn't too bad, the driver is worn. Wish we could get someone to embroidery some. I know a couple of poeple that do embroidery, but they can't do anything that heavy.

Nice to know that I'm not the only one on here w/ $hitty looking floor mats. Surely someone has figured out that there is a need for these and has stepped up to the plate...

I have an absolutely mint set of black S281 floor mats that came with my absolutely mint '98 Cobra Speedster. I now have them in storage as I purchased a set of tan generic mats for daily use. However, they are not for sale.

I believe the OEM Saleen mats only were available in black as my S281 has a tan interior yet came with black mats. I seem to recall in the Saleen Performance Parts catalogs of years past that black, gray & tan were once offered but only for the Fox cars.

The issue with someone duplicating the Saleen mats on a large scale is the licensing restrictions with the 'Saleen Mustang' & 'S281' logos. Without proper authorization, anyone duplicating them would be subject to copyright infringement enforcement.

Do you really think Saleen is going to spend the time and money to go after someone making floor mats? I dont think they have pursued the people making the fake VIN plates yet. I don't encourage copyright infringement, but Saleen is not going to lose too much money on someone making a limited run of floor mats for the people that really need them.

I talked to Mark at PAS this morning about some mats. He said that he can't get Saleen to release the rights. Says he has contacted who did them originally, but w/o out permission could get into serious kimche... Pi$$es me off that Saleen won't make them, but won't release the rights so that someone else can...

Can you buy the mats with nothing on them??? If so let me know and anyone with a really nice set and good camera get some pictures I might know someone willing to make some. Because that was the route I was looking at. So anyone with S351 and S281 with some good pictures of the mats and can tell me where to get blank black ones let me know. And I will discuss it with them if they want to do it.

My passenger mat is in pretty good shape. I'll take some pics of it. As for blanks, we could get real Ford blanks, but the Saleen ones are much thicker. Anyone know where to get some of the heaver ones?

Now, see where they get those and see if they could make them for the 350 or so S351's that were made........

yeh i cant seem to find them for the s351... i was lookin for a medium parchment set for my 2000 saleen clone and came across these a while ago but thats not the newer style embroidery. i only found the newer style in black like they offer on their website, so i settled for those. good luck to you guys though!

An Update:

Well I waited for ever to get the mats, and they delivered me the 99+ ones w/ Saleen down the side. Man was I pi$$ed. I knew they weren't going to be the right ones when they came direct from Saleen in a Saleen box. I had already talked to Saleen and they don't make them any more.

The guy I talked to (Eddy, then Jeremy) said, "if Saleen doesn't make them, then we can't get them...". I said, "Then take the damn picture off your website and don't advertise the 94-98 mats. Don't just take peoples money and send them the wrong stuff!" First they tried to tell me that the ones they sent were for a 94-98. Then they told me the picture was an old one. What a bunch of $hit! After looking at their site, these guys sell enough Saleen parts to know what they're talking about.

So...they are now telling me that Saleen is going to make them again and will have them in 8 weeks. They sent UPS out to pick-up the wrong ones they sold me and I'm playing the waiting game. I'm going to call Saleen on Monday and confirm that they are going to start making them again. Somehow, I doubt it very seriously. Then I'll probably have to fight with these guys to get my $$ back!!

Bottom Line - Don't order from these guys...

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I can't believe they would even tell you that. Saleen has never in it's entire history brought back production on any part that has been no longer available.
