Paint and Body Safelite windshields, do they look just like oem?

I was considering having safelite change out my windshield for a brand new one since I have all the windshield trim off currently. Can anyone who has done this let me know how the aftermarket windshield is? Is it a car lite oem replacement or does it look different?

Can anyone confirm if my windshield is oem? From what I see online they’re supposed to have a ford logo on them? Mine does not…

Safelite did a great job replacing my assumed to be original carlite windshield 2 years ago with an aftermarket windshield that looks exactly the same with the black border and tint strip across the top,
I will be home at 7 pm and tell you what brand they used.
I hated losing the original glass but got over that real fast once I saw how nice and clean and factory it still looked. New glass is One of the best cosmetic improvements to any car IMO.
BTW: My carlite didn’t have the ford oval either.

I'm looking to replace my windshield also, origamal one has two running ponies across the bottom black tint. Id like to keep it but was told it would cost triple.

For anyone looking for the best replacement glass (besides NOS), NPD got another run of Carlite glass done. I had previously tried to buy their last windshield and was told it was damaged in their warehouse. I was bummed that I missed an original. Well in looking last week I noticed they had them in stock at all 4 warehouses. I messaged them to ask what the source was (since I was under the impression all were gone) and got the following response:

"Our M-03100-9A windshields are Carlite windshields with the Carlite marking. Because of the super high demand, Carlite made another batch for us. Thank Goodness!!!!"

It's a bit unclear if the logo they show in the images is from the new glass or the original they previously had in the listing, but either way, this glass is the closest you can get to NOS.

Freight is a little eye watering but if having the Carlite logo is important than not much you can do...

I noticed these for sale and was very interested. Only thing is my windshield doesn’t have that mirror bracket and is a different part number. I assume the mirror bracket is no big deal but the part number saying G and their description saying it’s tinted green makes me wonder if these will look different than the one I currently have? Or all they all tinted green?

Congrats on the purchase!

Although this is no longer needed but to answer your original question because I said I would:

The Safelite windshield brand is FUYAO [FY]… It is made in the USA as per the stamp etched in the glass.
They can likely get whatever brand you prefer but without me specifying what I wanted this is what I received.

I did a lot of glass work long ago, Carlite is a Ford company [or was] but the glass did not have the blue oval. Also note the difference, tinted means same level of color top to bottom just like the other glass. Shaded denotes the darker strip across the top and looks a lot better. Freight is probably so high because only 1/2 make it through ! There are still independent glass shops that may have access to Carlite parts. Just went and looked at mine again, sun-x means tinted glass, sun visor denotes the top dark strip.

Perfect that’s good to know. The glass I have now says sun visor and sun x, and the one npd has pictures also has those two so they should be a match

I managed a 100,000 sq ft windshield distribution center that specialized in large motor home ( motor coaches) windshields before I retired....
We were having a hard time keeping trucking firms due to the breakage... Large one piece Coach/Bus windshields especially... It wasn't due to the way we packed them but how they were handled.. Fork lift forks through the box, shipping warehouse tipping the boxes over, stacking pallets on top of the WS boxes....

they never proved that was me on the forklift ...

Safelite buys direct from Carlite (Ford), and when i had the windshield replaced in my '93 I got an OEM windshield. It has the Ford logo and the bug mark is in the bottom center of the glass.

Part no. DWO1095GBN

The OEM side window glass says Carlite, and so does the hatch glass.

I worked for Safelite as an installer 10 years ago. And as of 4 years ago they could still get OEM glass for Foxbodies.

When I was putting mine together initially, 2-3yrs ago, the rear hatch glass was completely unobtainable from any manufacturer.

Maybe that has changed? Or are you strictly talking windshields?
