Anybody recently do a full Saleen body kit? Did you install it yourself, or have a shop do it? If a shop, how much did it cost for the paint & install?

doing it myself right now, seems really easy, i wouldnt pay someone to do it for me, took me about 10 mins to put each bumper on and i still have to attach skirts with 3m universal adhesive, will take little longer but quality is what matters.

it's easy to install... painting it is pricey, and time consuming... (for you) but you should be able to get a urethane kit painted and installed by you in a weekend and for about $2000 all said and done... good luck, pics when you're done man!

Some good lookin sh-- man! Have a shop do it. Taking all that stuff home after just getting painted is asking for scratches.

i had a local shop do mine and it took a lot of primer to fill in the pin holes but other than that fit is fine i had a little over $1000 in the kit and a small dent gettting fixed .which i thought was s good deal

Fitment is my biggest concern -- I hear that the Saleen stuff is undrilled, and has to be custom mounted. I hear that the stock bumper cover comes off pretty easy -- so I'd fit the Saleen cover, drill it, etc, and then put the stock cover back on while we get the saleen cover prepped and painted. That's a lot of work, which is why I'm at least going to try and find out how much a shop would charge for this.

Best I've seen is Saleen themselves. Currently $1200 for the full kit + S281 wing.

saleen is best, most cheaper places are all fiberglass. get the urethane. and yes you do have to drill your own holes. I would look at and see what you can do before taking it to a shop, if you have some experience with body work, do it yourself, but if your a newb, i would take it to a shop to fit it and paint it right away.

I looked into a saleen kit a few months ago. I can't remember the website name right now but I'll find it and post it. They are a factory direct saleen body kit dealer and give extreme detail on how to put one of these kits on. Everything from removing it from the box, to preperation, saleen painting techniques, black paint locations saleen uses (they're not painted all one color unless they're black to begin with), fitment techniques, tools needed, and just about everything else you could imagine. They sell the kits cheaper than saleen as well. There are two other sites I know of that sell or have info on these kits. They are http://www.need-4-speed.com/saleen.htm and www.speedworx.com however speedworx is offline until something like may 3 because they're moving their servers. I'll post the other site ASAP.

get the directly from Saleen... the fiberglass ones are OK, but they won't stand up to any abbuse (john, I'm looking at you ) (jumped a curb a few weeks ago going rather fast ) but anyway, don't save money and buy someplace cheap, this is one thing you want to last the life of your car...

I'd be interested in seeing that. The best price I've found now seems to be $1199, and that's either from Saleen direct or need-4-speed.

You gonna get new wheels to go with the kit? Just my opinion, but I think you really kinda need some 18s on the saleen kit. It just fits...

I have some 18's out in the shed, actually. I've been wondering what they would look like color matched to the car. I like the way Saleen did it, but the effect only works on thin spoked wheels. Not sure if my 18's are suitable, I need to do some photoshopping...

what kinda wheels are they

the new issue of Mustang Enthusiast has a real nice 95 SR-351. white with white 18" saleen wheels. thing looks real good.
