I finally got around to installing my series II. I picked it up used and it was missing a few parts. (egr tube, water pump tube etc.) any way, I managed to get around these things. and get it all installed. Then the fan's and pumps would not come on. I replaced the relay and it still didn't work. I finally got it to work by hooking it in to a differnt wire, but my first question is are the fans supposed to come on when the key is on and engine not running? This is the way it is now, but that drains the battery pretty fast.

My second question is I cranked it up just to check for leaks, it idled great, but when I turned it off. I get a Hiss for a second or two like a pressure release. Is this normal, or should I be looking for a leak somewhere?

Yes on the fans.

Yes on checking for a leak. It shouldn't hiss.

Thanks Tom, I found the vacuum leak, and I need to find a different wire to hook the fans and pump to. The wire I hooked into ran to the MAF, and was screwing up the reading. I was finally able to drive it today. Wow with I really need some sticky tires now.

I followed the instructions and hooked into the dark green wire with a yellow stripe but get nothing even after it has been running for a while. I found another wire that gets power in the on position. Seems to work ok for now. runs great, now I just need to get my guages working.
