Where is the schrader valve on a '04 Mustang GT? I can't find it at all...

I think I have read on here that after 2002 or some year Ford didnt put em on anymore.

there's no schrader valve on the '04, I think there's an adapter or something out there though

what kind of schrader valve are we talking about here? is it the one thats supposed to be on the fuel rail? if it is im pretty sure they eliminated it, but there is a way to tap into the rail to get fuel pressure readings.

My 2003 has one which I used for my fuel pressure gauge adapter......

There is one on the passenger side fuel rail, nearest the front of the engine.

04 do not have a schrader valve...unless you own an 04 Mach 1. Not sure about the Cobras. Anyway 04's havea returnless system (or so Ford told me.) I was told in order to hook up my fuel pressure gauge, i had to either find an aftermarket fuel rail, or drill into the current one and then weld in a self centering bung, available from Autometer. What i ended up doing was T-ing off my fuel supply line and fabricating a brass T to screw in the sending unit. So...good luck finding a schrader valve on the fuel rail, cause they arent there.

you can easily pick up a set of rails from a 99-01 off Ebay like I did for under $30 and just swap them over to your car.

anyone know why ford didn't put a schrader valve on the '04 fuel rails? There are a couple quirky things that are '04 exclusive I've found

Blown 04: All v8 mustangs since 99 were retuenless

Phoenix: they eliminated it to save money im guessing. a schrader valve costs what maybe a dime, so $.10 times 50k mustangs = more money in bill ford's pocket.

bdcardinal: I didnt know that...thanks for the info. So if a fuel system is returnless, does that mean that all of the fuel in the rail is consumed as oppossed to sent back to the tank? Doesnt that mean crappy MPG's?

well the returnless fuel system, if i understand it correctly has a fuel pressure regulator in the tank that bleeds off pressure when its not needed. theoretically the gas mileage should be better with a returnless system.

Here's the deal with hooking up a nitrous kit on an 03/4 without the Schraeder valve. For some reason it was yet another thing Ford decided to change the year before they kill the SN95 body style. First off,I would not recommend drilling into the fuel rails. It's just not a good idea seeing as how it's not something that can be done without rigging it. NX has designed a special fuel block that taps into fuels system via the sensor housing on the drivers side fuel rail. It will still use the same sensor as that is the new superfantabalous electronic version of the schraeder valve (yet another computer that will now be computer controlled). This is not a mass produced product and will be contructed on a request basis. It's $50 and it's the only safe way to tap into the fuel system.
