Ok...when I am at a standstill, or just barely moving, there is a high pitched "screeching" sound when I turn my wheels....what needs lubed here? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Nothing. More than likely its your power steering pump.

thanks for the quick response. Does that mean that it needs to be replaced? Is there something that can stop the noise?

Moaing/growing/howling and even whining is more like the power steering which would be "normal" on ford cars Screeching sounds like me to be tire rods ends. Stick the end of a straw into the rubber boot that covers the tie rod end joints and spray some white lithium in there.

That is what I was thinking was the problem....unfortunately I haven't been able to get my wife to turn the wheels while I listen..

White lithium? What is that?

Could I use WD40?

White lithium is pretty much a spray grease which will handle high temp as well. WD is just a surface lub that penetrates grime - and will evaporate eventually.
Maybe your car is rejecting the flame thrower kit

Unfortunately, every time I have ever had a customer with any kind of noise that you are describing when turning, its a bad power steering pump.

If you are sitting at a standstill and you turn the wheel and it makes the noise, take the belt off and do the same thing; if the noise goes away you have a bad pump. Dont do this too long though, the water pump and alternator wont be working.

Any auto parts store or hardware store. It's pretty common.
