I removed the screen in my MAF. Thinking it would give me a couple of extra hp. I ran it like that for a week or two. It seemed to cut of the top end a good bet. Then i seen somewhere that it leaned the car out. So i put it back in and the power is back, but it seems it just moved my powerband up about 1000 rpm. Has anyone else tried this? If so did the samething happen to you?

I removed my MAF screen a while back and felt no difference. Later I was told by my autoshop teacher that the screen is actually used to 'straighten' the air and reduce turbulence in the MAF.

The screen straightens the air before it crosses the sensor to help make readings accurate.

It also helps stop rocks, sticks, leaves, and small animals form entering into your engine.

yeah it's won't help you out any by taking the screen off. You best bet is to leave it in there or get a new MAF if you are looking for power gains.
