SCT Incorrect Vehicle error

Looking for some help and advice. New X3 Tuner gives Incorrect Vehicle error and fails to download the tune. The tuner is new, never used, Firmware and programs reloaded and formatted memory with SCT tech support (couldn't get them back on the phone after holding for 40 minutes). The PCM code is XZE2 and the strategy code FPAFOA3 jives. The unit locks after the attempted download but is now unlocked after setting back to stock. Tried this multiple times before and after new FW/programs were updated. Only thing I can think of is maybe Ford reflashed the PCM when the wife took it in for the airbag recall (I know they should only flash the RCM). Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks

Your thinking is most likely correct. Any TSB's that may be outstanding, they will update the processor. Even if you instruct them to stay out of it, they do it anyway.

nail on the head , have to see if SCT can get it worked out for you , sounds like they flashed it to the newest calibration . Techs at dealers are hurting so even if its not needed the techs will do it when they are slow so they can add a few tenths to their paychecks
