i found about every dang answer to every question radiator related, except ofcourse for the questions i have.....lol....
ok, i definatly need a new radiator and am either going to buy the brass copper 3 core replacement or a summit universal one.
my questions are.....has anyone used the 3 core brass copper in a hot climate like az with results? i know the core is 2 inches thick, does anyone know how wide the 3 rows are individually? also, why do i not see any 4 core copper brass for our stangs?

summit radiator questions are........i see everyone buying the 31x19 and having to do some modding for fitment and that it's tight fit. summit also sells a 27 and 3/8's x 19 radiator as well, part no 380428, has anyone used this radiator and does it fit a little better with more space??
and last, i have seen some who got the griffin radiator and said the hose outlets on the radiator were a little bigger and the hose had to be stretched over them. is this the same with the summit radiators or are they the correct size? also heard the summit radiator has a goofy angle on the lower outlet, can you still use the stock hose???

1. i have no experience with aftermarket brass radiators, but aluminum is lighter and better

2. The 31x19 is a VERY tight fit and if you don't feel like hammering and bending stuff out of the way, go with the 27 3/8x19. Some people say the that 31x19 goes in easy, but I had to do some cutting and hammering to get it in.

3. And yes, the summit radiators do have larger outlet and inlet openings. Its not hard at all to slip the hose over the openings, just spray them with some wd-40 and with some muscle you can get them on with no problem.

4. The lower outlet goes up at a 45 degree angle where as the stock is 90 degrees. You can use the stock hose with no problems.

thanks. i wondered why everyone was getting the 31 incher when it was a tight fit yet they have a 27 incher..............maybe i'll try that one it should be the same radiator otherwise......

The 3 core brass/copper radiator I have works very good. I got mine from Autozone for about $170 + tax. The fit is very good, no hammering or bending.

I took the rubber out of the stock mount bracket and then filled the metal bracket with black silicone. Then I put some Saran Wrap over the silicone and bolted it down. Wala! custom radiator mounts! Three days later I removed the Saran Wrap and trimmed the silicone rubber and it looks very factory.

Central Florida is almost as hot as AZ, and with air conditioning running, it puts a heat load on the cooling system. I haven't seen any evidence of overheating, even in stop & go traffic.

I went down this road, and selected the Ford SVO ( at the time) 3 core brass radiator in 92 or so. With a modified engine, the stock ac, etc, it has cooled my 79 from SC to Florida and Mississippi for ten years with no problem.

I put the cheapest 2 core replacement in my 82, with no ac, no shroud, etc, and it works for limited around town driving and track work with an electric fan. $105 from radiatorexpress.com, delivered.

thanks.........the one reason i thought of the 3 core was for a more sane install, plus, being i have an doa tranny i'd need a tranny cooler ( which an extra one is a good idea anyway i'm just on a budget right now ). i know as time goes on i'll be or wanna be modding the car more and did'nt want to get to a point someday where i wished i'd spent a few bucks extra and not have to worry about it........i can get a 3 core to my door for 143, the summit, with an external cooler would probably cost about 200 to my door.........i'm still on the fence.......maybe i'll toss a coin, or maybe i'll just get goofy and decide to but the bad boy radiator and be done with it....lol....this sucks..........i'd start a pole but i know i'd get more votes for the summit radiator..........lol
