I am trying to do the seat upholstery from my 67 fastback, and I am having a hard time with the hog rings. I have heard that these are easy, but I am having a hard time getting the old ones off even as they are clamped down pretty good. Does anyone have any helpful tips to make this go a little easier? Thanks.

Get the cutters... they look like mini bolt cutters and it will make your life easier.

When I did mine, I tried to pull them apart. NOPE. Just cut them. I just used a good set of wire cutters. I have pretty strong hands though. the mini bolt cutters that bishop talked about would have been better. I was able to pull apart the old rings in about 3 minutes for each piece.

Cut the rings but not the listing wire (runs through the seat) unless you are planning to replace it. I think I did actually use a small set of bolt cutters but had to break out the wire cutters for a few that were hard to get to.

i always used a big pair of dikes and twisted them. Pulls one side out of the hole and then you just pull it out

Side cutters. Yeah as said above, don't cut the listing. You will need that as they don't come in the kits. Did you get a set of hog ring pliers to put the new ones in?
