I have a 2000 mustang. Where can I disconnect that annoying seatbelt chime that keeps going off until you put your seatbelt on? Yes, I know it's law to have one on but regardless, I would like to know how to disconnect it.
Would there be a harness under the driver seat or something? I could find the fuse and pull it but that would probably disconnect something else that I need so I dont want to do that.

Two wires in the bottom connector portion of the seat belt are an open circuit until you put the metal seat belt blade in to close the circuit. Find those two wires right there at the connector and connect them together and it will think that you have the seat belt connected.

Thanks but I just heard an easier way to deactivate that chime. You have to jump through a few hoops to do it but it works.

Here is the other way for anyone that might need this info:

Step 1: Turn ignition switch to ON. All the way forward without cranking the engine.
Step 2: Wait until the seatbelt alarm to go off and stop. About 1-2 min.

-- Steps 3-5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the process with have to be repeated.

Step 3: Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the belt unbuckled.
Step 4: Turn the headlights on then off.
Step 5: Buckle then unbuckle the belt three times ending with the belt unbuckled.
--After step 5 the safety light will be turned on for about three seconds then go off.
Step 6: Within seven seconds of the safety belt light going off buckle then unbuckle the belt again.
--That should disable the safety alarm if it is currently activated or vice versa. You will see the seat belt light blink a few times to confirm it has been done successfully.

Good Luck. I did it on my first try and no you don't have to do it every time. It will disable the chime until you want to reactivate the seat belt warning.

:D You forgot the part where you have to click your heals together three times while chanting, "There's no more chime, there's no more chime..." :rlaugh:

I could still do it faster and put a rocker switch in to turn it off and on.

Glad you figured it out. :nice:

I was originally going find a seatbelt end at a junkyard and just put that in it...lol I just would like to meet the geek that took the time to figure that all out...lol

Per the Manual...

Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder feature
Read steps 1 - 9 thoroughly before proceeding
with the deactivation/activation programming
procedure.
The BeltMinder feature can be deactivated/activated
by performing the following procedure:
Before following the procedure, ensure that the
following conditions are met:
• The parking brake is set.

• The gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic
transmission) or the neutral position (manual
transmission).
• The ignition switch is in the OFF position.
• All vehicle doors are closed.
• The driver’s safety belt is unbuckled.
• The parklamps/headlamps are in OFF position (If
vehicle is equipped with Autolamps, this will not
affect the procedure).
To reduce the risk of injury, do not
deactivate/activate the Belt Minder feature
while driving the vehicle.
BeltMinder activation and deactivation
procedure
1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON)
position. (DO NOT START THE ENGINE.)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off.
(Approximately 1–2 minutes.)
• Steps 3–5 must be completed within 60 seconds
or the procedure will have to be repeated.
3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times,
ending with the safety belt unbuckled. This can be
done before or during BeltMinder warning activation.
4. Turn on the parklamps/headlamps, turn off the
parklamps/headlamps.
5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times,
ending with the safety belt unbuckled.
• After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be
turned on for three seconds.
6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning
light turning off, buckle then unbuckle the safety
belt.
• This will disable BeltMinder if it is currently
enabled, or enable BeltMinder if it is currently
disabled.

by:
• The safety belt warning light flashing four times
per second for three seconds.
• Followed by three seconds with the safety belt
warning light off.
• Once again, the safety belt warning light will flash
four times per second for three seconds.

So my seat belt chime wire must have a short and it doesn't recognize when the belt is buckled, how do I fix that?

Seems to me that you could:
  • Clean or repair the seat belt inserted switch in the seat belt buckle. My guess it that it got wet or a drink spill.
  • de pin or cut the BN/LB wire under the seat. The wire could also be accessed at the GEM pin #8.
  • Perform the disable procedure given previously in this post.
Note the default action of the switch is grounded when the seat belt is NOT inserted. The circuit OPENS when the buckle is inserted.

So you have de-pined BN/LB wire at the seat belt buckle and still have the problem?

I also suspect there's a problem with the ignition switch. Circuits being powered that aren't supposed to be.

The ignition switch can be replaced and does not require PATS reprogramming.
