Seems as though I have a short.

I took my 96 Cobra for a spirited drive last night. The car ran great, there were no problems what so ever but this morning it had a dead batttery. :bang: Crap! I say. I didn't leave anything on but something drained the battery overnight. As a side note, it rained the a mother late last night and it is still very humid. Anyway, I got the car started with jumper cables and drove it for around 4 miles without any problems.

It must have a short. I replaced the battery with one that was fully charged. I measured across the battery terminals while the car was running. It measured 14.50 volts which is normal. I let the car run a while and measured again, I got 14.35 volts, a few minutes later it measured 14.10. Alternator, I thought.

I replaced the alternator. (Note to Haynes. You forgot to mention that the strut tower brace must be removed! And a note to myself. Get a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar, you are barley strong enough to overcome the belt tensioner with just a ratchet.) Okay, with the rebuilt alternator installed it did the same friggen thing as far as the voltage readings.

It got dark, so I packed it in for the night. I'll have to disconnect the battery when the car is not in use or I have a feeling I will be greeted by another dead battery.

It looks like I'll be spending some time with the car, a multimeter, and a test light. I hate electrical problems! :notnice: :( :nonono:
