Self Tuning

yea its really a breeze. i let willy send me a tune to drive on unto i got the time to play with it a little and figure it out on my own. i was nervous about it at first but it was very very simple and easy. wasnt long at all before i had it like i wanted it.

Ah so it tunes it "correctly" as long as the information you enter is correct. Basically you need to know what A/F its trying to command though inorder to properly tune by MAF Xfer. Fortunatly thats easy information to attain and you dont have to go into the tune to get it.

So I assume the software asks you to log STFT and MAF AD counts, and RPM then asks what the readout is over the various RPM ranges? That way it knows what the commanded A/F is over a specific RPM range and then also knows how close it is to target.
If A/F is ON target it simply changes the commanded A/F on the openloop fuel table to achieve the desired A/F.
BUT if the actual A/F is not what is being commanded, then it changes the MAF AD counts to make it deliver the commanded A/F, and also then adjusts commanded A/F if needed after that.

If thats how it tunes the A/F....thats a very good setup and definatly user friendly. Especially if it automatically logs those readings and applies the changes automatically to make the A/F match what is being commanded.

hahaha, well I was the same way. But once you get into it....you really learn ALOT. Im just speaking from the technical side of things so I know its not tuning the car the wrong way. People can say "yea it tunes off of RPM" and well you can simply go in there and change the commanded A/F for that RPM range and bam your done.....BUT thats not the proper way to do things. SO I was just checking to make sure, as that can cause problems.

Im not tuning the cobra though....I just learned all this from tuning my old GT. Thats one thing I like about the SCT software....or any full control software. Im actually have my car tuned by Joe @ Tricktuners over the internet Hes doing a darn good job too....we are almost done and A/F is almost fully dialed in. Infact im going to go out right now and test the latest tune he just sent me. (yes we are street tuning it...really the BEST way to tune. 100% accurate real world conditions and loads. )
