Sequential Taillights Question

I'm in the process of buying a '06 GT this month and had a quick question about the sequential taillight kits on the market. I've found a number of kits and some sequence the brake lights once, when the brake pedal is down. My question: Do any kits not sequence the brake lights? I'd rather not change the function of the brake lights if there's a choice. Thanks!

I have an 06' and it's either everything sequences (turn & brake) and I believe every light kit does that...........or you don't get the kit. Why don't you want the brakes to sequence?

The WebElectric sequentials can be wired so that the brake lights don't sequence. Check out the online instructions on their site

I currently have these and i like them because they only do the turn signals, they dont do sequential brake lights, and they were cheap!

I'm concerned that changing the function of the brake lights might be a problem if I ever get hit from behind. The other driver might claim I changed my brake lights to something not DOT legal and it's not their fault...

Those look like a great deal! But they are for early 06 cars so I am out of luck apparently...

I have those too, but my brakes sequence once when you step on the pedal. Those only work on cars built before a certian date.

EDIT:

This guy at GT-Concepts ( http://www.gtconcepts.net/ ) also has some really cool floresent light kits for the trunk. I installed a set and they light the dark trunk up like day time, very cool item me thinks, especially for under $30.

And I use WebElectric. I went through 2 StackRacing sets from American Muscle... Total crap!

If anything, I think the sequential lights are better than the stock taillights. Since I got mine, I've been looking at other Mustangs, and I've noticed that with the stock lights, only the outer 2 lights, light up when you signal or step on the brake. I'm not sure if that inside light ever gets used at all.

With the sequentials I have, all 3 lights light up when you brake. So you're increasing your light output by 50%. Plus, I think the sequencing of your brake lights gets people's attention better than just a static light.

I have the CDC sequentials and they sequence all three bulbs per side. I also agree that more lit bulbs would provide better notification.
I've noticed with the '10 Stang, the factory sequentials only work with the turn signals, not the brakes.

I have that trunk light kit as well and they do add a nice touch. I spliced the wires myself rather than use the cheap wire crimps provided.

Just installed the Web Electric harness and the wife and I love it!! Very easy to do, but if you're not careful, you could scratch your car when re-installing the tail lights !!

Guys,

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the law regarding these sequential tail light kits? Could my car be failed if I took it for testing?

It is my understanding that they are DOT OK and 50 state legal.

Hate to bring this back from the dead.

CDC? Dynamite Sticks (I believe Stack Racing)? or Webelectric?

Looking for reliable plug and play performance with ZERO splicing who should I go with?

I've had the CDC plug and play since late '06 and only had a passenger side bulb blow once. Only thing you need to do is swap over the bubs from the factory harnesses or you can get a complete new set of bulbs and have the factory harnesses/bulbs as a complete back up. The entire swap takes less than 30 minutes. Only thing is, you need to be careful when removing the taillight assembly as there is nothing between it and the bumper and can scratch easily if not careful.

I've heard on other forums that there are some issues with the Stack Racing lights. The CDC and Web Electric ones seem to be the better kits to get. I didn't want to splice into the OEM harness, so I purchased the sequential harness!!!

Like Kooldawg says, be careful when you remove and install your taillight housings, very easy to scratch your bumper or the sides of the trunk.

Just use a microfiber towel under there and you should be fine, even if you have a small "oops"

Thanks for the warning I already had to pop out the housings for a bulb swap so I know what you mean. I think i'll probably go with CDC I found them cheaper then the web electric and they are a pretty reputable company.

Also Kooldaw nice choice on the FR500's that's how I used to roll and they looked awesome in Black Chrome on Vista Blue.
