Sheila Vs. turbo RSX (boo)

I dont think hes running 14 psi honestly.

I generally never race from a roll, its stupid and should be banned from this earth.

Why did i choose? Well a few reasons, first my rear tires are pep boys and id much rather the match be as even as possible than have to suffer from my stupidity of not getting the radials yet. So racing from a roll to me doesnt matter, my car has assloads of topend too, im not scared of his ****.

Launching in my car is impossible. The above reasons guys...

Even with the rear uppers and lowers and all the goodies. As soon as she hits 2000 RPM in 1st gear im pointing sideways. Theres not way around it, feathering the clutch isnt going to work here, im racing not pulling an 18 wheeler out of a ditch. No offense to anyones suggestions, but this is how i see it.

Plus i dont think we will race to 115. It should be fun though, its just a friendly race.

I wanna tape it.

These tires came with the car when i bought it a year ago.

I swear they are like a trillion mile tires because they never wear. Countless peel outs, these rear tires look brand new. I swear they are made out of concrete...

I am gonna get some nittos are something real soon. I miss 1st and 2nd... :(

my friend raced a turbo rsx on the highway like 4 times, he has a 90gt with some small bolt on, my friend would always jump a car on him from the start, but as soon as that thing spooled up, he would just jump further and further ahead of us, pretty bad ass, my friend lost by about 3 cars, but u have way more **** then him, so i would think u would win, just give it a lil spray

This is what's killing you to begin with. Aftermarket upper and lower control arms work well to keep your car consistent at the track and when you're running drag radials or slicks, but when you back them with a pair of regular radials, they're actually going to hurt your first 60ft, not help.

The stock stamped steel control arms, and soft rubber bushings actually act to "dampen" some of the initial driveline and power train shock when you launch the car. This softens things up a little on the launch and allow you to come out of the hole better with harder radial tires. When you go with solid arms and harder or solid bushings, the arms don't absorb the initial torque as well and the power is transferred almost directly to the rear wheels, which in turn will "shock" them during the launch and cause major traction issues.

Just and FYI for you. :)

So basically were all wasting our time with these POS mustangs? I mean, AFR 165's, cam, proted cobra intake, full exaust but still no match for a RSX with a bolt on turbo kit??? A combo like Dbeck's should be good for 12's if not faster. Of course I have seen some impressive combo's not perform well at all, there are other factors. He said the RSX driver doesn't know that much so he either paid to have the work done, which his budget will be the deciding factor as well as who did the work, or he got a basic kit that comes "complete" but then I doubt he will see the results of a real built combo.

Just because it's a import with a turbo means nothing. Everyone seems to think so. I don't know how many times we would be in a spot and a civic would drive by and sport it's BOV, everyone (especailly mustang guys) were like "OMG, don't run into that thing" well I would usually line up with them and almost always make the kill. Yeah, I got beat before too, but the one's that beat me were built by those who really knew thier craft and had more than simple bolt ons. Watch people piss thier pants when they see a 240 with the SR20DET motor. A guy with one was talking trash, I didn't even get in the arguement but when he tried to drive off I chased him down, when he tried to get on the highway I showed him what mid-low end was on the on ramp, we lined up on the highway and he did not pull, and when he would change gears I would pull ahead about a foot, he started to come back about half a foot, but would never re-gain. He followed me and by his attidude I thought some skull cracking would take place. He accused me of spraying, well when he finally relized he was dealing with a N/A 5.0 stock bottom end with stock ported heads, he was humbled. He gave me congrats on building my car right and not talking trash, just going straight for action. He said he was tired of off the Mustang guys talking crap about his car when all they have is loud exaust, saying the only way to get them out is to talk crap. I had to agree. Actually a pretty cool guy, just a hotrodder like us and tired of the BS talk.

His car should be good for 12's, yes. But clocking in a quarter mile time doesn't start from a roll, it begins from a dead stop. Rolling starts are where high-strung turbo cars thrive, in which case.....all theorys about N/A V8 performance and bets are off......sorry to tell ya. :(

I'm going to look into a set of tires today and hopefully get them this week.

I like the nitto 555R 255's. Gonna get those for the rear ASAP lol...

oh and gearbanger, i understand your point about the control arms and i think you are right actually. I do feel this effect in the car when i try to launch :(

For all the people who state what the RSX will not have a chance, I beg to differ. Don't get me wrong, I love my 95 gt, but my daily driver is a supercharged 02 rsx type s with only 5 lbs of boost and that thing is quick. I have never taken it to the track, but here's a list of the cars I can remember that I have smoked or beaten: My girlfriend's stock 01 GT (from a roll, and dig) , 350z's, g35's, cobalt ss, modded 02 GTi with 20lbs of boost, jetta 1.8t, turbo civic, that's all I've recently raced and won. I stayed neck and neck with my brothers 06 Saab 92x, which he says is some kind of mix between a wrx and sti. I also raced a new Lexus is350 from a roll the other night and he barely pulled less than a car length on me. That car is supposed to run 13.7 stock. I know my car would not beat the threadstarters if people say it runs 12's. But I can venture to guess that my car is a high 13 second, or very low 14 second car based on the cars I've raced. But the car in question is not my rsx with 5lbs of boost. It's the turbo rsx with 14 lbs. If his car is really running 14 lbs, I would say it's going to be a good race. As far as traction, he wont have traction from a dig either, so it doesn't matter. For all of you who don't think the rsx has a chance, just wait for the results. It will be closer than you think.
