I was wondering if anyone here knew about changing out the front fascia of a GT with a Shelby front fascia. Do you also have to change out the headlight assemblies because of the angled supports on either side of the grille.

Any advice\knowledge woudl be appreciated.

I take it you're talking about the GT500 fascia and not the Shelby GT. In that case, yes you have to change headlamps due to the shape. You also have to change out the wheel well liners. You can still use the GT hood.

You can still use the wheel well liners on your GT, just have to do a little fab for them, I think. If you do a search online you will find a few people who have done it. It's not cheap, I'll tell you that. I'd budget about 2,500 bucks for it with paint and labor and everything.

I ran into a guy yesterday online who had done it and from what he told me it would be way too much work and money to put into a Daily Driver GT. He did it and said it ended up in the 3,000 range.....too rich for my blood.

a guy around here did it to his wifes v6. it looks pretty damn clean.

he paid 3000 including paint, supplies, prep work. the only thing i don't like is hes got roush badges and svt and crap and its only a auto 6er.

then a friend of mine wants to make his look like the KR.

i dunno, i like my car being just a gt, even though thats hard to say for a mustang. race a STI or something and have them go damn, a gt just pulled bus lengths on me. i'd hate to race a gt500.

It's $2,000 ... $3,000 if you don't know what you're paying for ...

See if takeoff parts can be found. Ford has an astronomical mark up on parts these days.

Not the same thing but you could try the Saleen heritage bumper which will look like a GT500 on the bottom and retain the GT headlights up top. I was going to do this until I got bit by the Roush Bug and the availability of prepainted parts.

Some time ago, someone posted a picture of a lime green GT with the GT500 bumper cover treatment. I suggest getting the hood too. The reason is because the upper corners of the headlights do not line up with the creases on a GT hood. Also, a GT hood would make the grille opening look smaller.
