Hey all. I was having trouble going from 1st to reverse. Hell, maybe to reverse in general. Well I took it to the dealer and they said its nothing wrong I have to actually put it into 3rd or 4th first then into reverse for the synchros to reset or something. Is this happening for everyone?

Same here. If it won't go into reverse, let the clutch out in neutral and then depress the clutch and go again. If it's any consolation, it's exactly the same on my Mazda 5. Must be a Ford trait....
My '00 GT was the same way as far as being hesitant going into reverse... I too would have to put it in 3rd then reverse. There isn't anything "wrong" with your tranny, just it's trait...
well, they probably are BSing you some, but i have had this same issue in every 5 speed mustang i have owned now, and i have had 5 of them. not a big deal, you just don't think it should have to be that way...
reverse has no synchros which is why it always goes in easier after going into any other gear. there isnt anything wrong with the tranny. it has been like that in nearly every manual car i have driven, not just fords.
I was testing it out today and they were right, I cant go from 5th to R. Of course I like that, but I CAN go in from any other gear I tried (specifically 1st). Its just that some times I cant shift from 1st to R some times I can. The manual for our cars says the following:
The gershift lever can only be moved into R (Reverse) by moving it from left of 3 (Third) and 4 (Fourth) before shifting into R (Reverse). This is a lockout feature that protects the transmission from accidentally being shifted into R (Reverse) from 5 (Overdrive).
