Shock Spacers For Strange Shocks?

Hello again,

As I see now, my Strange rear shocks look like they need spacers on either side at the bottom -- the sleeve seems to fit right, but not the rubber bushings -- so it seems they may slide under use.

Can anyone tell me the proper size bushing (if I need them) and where to get them? I plan to call Strange -- as they sold them to me -- but it's always nice to have a second pinion.

Can anyone help me out here? Am I right or wrong? (The ones that came off didn't have any, but fit a little different -- they were wider.)

Here is a picture so you have a better idea of what I'm talking about. Notice the shock has slid to the right and you can see it is against the mounting bracket on that side. The left side you can see the metal sleeve. It takes up the entire width from one side of the bracket to the other, but the rubber bushing does not. What I think I need is some metal sleeves that would go over the exposed metal sleeve in the shock and fit between the bracket and the rubber on the shock -- keeping it centered. Make sense? Sound right? (Hopefully?)

I don't want to resort to trying to using washers (I think it would work), I'd rather just get the right sized spacers if that's what I need (pretty sure) and not have to worry about it.

You can to like pepboys or what not and go to the HELP isle. Pick up a set of bushings and cut to fit.

We did this in the past and it fit nice and snug.

It's supposed to tighten down on the metal sleeve not the bushing. Mine appears the same.

But the shock is able to slide side to side this way -- in the picture you can see it has slid out towards the tire. It may not make a huge difference, but I think for best performance it needs to be as straight up as possible -- which would mean it needs to be centered.

This is just my thinking -- it just doesn't seem right this way, even though it may work.

Thanks to both of you for replies...I'd rather not have to cut down any spacers or use washers or anything -- I prefer to get the right pieces -- it just seems better to me.

Any more thoughts?

I called Strange and they said they'd never heard of a problem like mine. Though they did say sometimes people reuse their old shock sleeves with the new shocks. Nice piece of info to NOT include with the shock -- especially after my shocks are long gone...I never heard of that anyway.

Can someone measure the distance between the ears on the lower shock mount so I can be sure all that is setup right and I'm not missing something.

Any more info or suggestions?

Thanks -- mine fit too, and probably would have worked "fine" -- but they weren't right as far as I was concerned. Maybe they tend to move more because of all the solid stuff back there, but still doesn't seem right to me.

I went and got a couple washers, put one on each side which tightened it up quite a bit -- not solid, but it won't slide all the way over like it did. I have to drive it a little and see if they move.
