Hey can anybody help me out here. I am looking for adjustable shocks that I don;t need to take off in order toadjust. Are the SPAX the only ones out there? If so can anybody tewll me how they match up to Koni's? Also is it better to go with a 620 spring and then not have such a firm shock? I am wanting to get in to autocross SCCA racing.

I did do some searches but I couldn't find anything here or on corner carvers about SPAX.

Thanks for the help I will check back often.

Get Koni shocks...
Just bought a set.
They are adjustable and great for auto-x especially with 620 springs.

Found a set new off E-bay for $238/pair shipped.

But don't you have to take the Koni's off to adjust them where as the spax you can adjust them while on the car? The spax cost 349.95 for a set of 4. So the price is pretty damn good. Does anybody have any comparison info of the spax vs. the Koni's?

I'm able to adjust the Koni's up front without removing.
With roller spring perches I am able to move the Koni shocks enought to adjust them. Takes maybe 5 minutes to adjust both front shocks.

Hmm.... I do have the roller spring perches myself. I am not trying to come off as being lazy but more out of convenience. You would still need to jack up the car to do that and the tire is a bit in the way.....right? Or are you able to do it without having to deal with all that?

Could you rank these shocks according to convenience, reliability, handling characteristics, and cost and still say Koni are the best?

Compare these four:

Cure-ride, Koni, Spax, and Edelbrock IAS.

I realize I added more complications and alternatives but I still believe Koni and Spax are the better of the four. I just wanted get some additional opinions.

I can adjust the Konis without jacking up the front of the car or removing a tire.

Simply remove the shock tower cap, compress shock fully and rotate right or left for firmess level desired.
Reassemble shock tower cap and drive hard.

Can't rank the Cure-ride or Edelbrock IAS as I have no first hand use with them. But, seeing how they are not adjustable and I need/want an adjustable shock for autocross I find them moot. I'd just go with KYBs if I didn't want adjustability on a street car.

Good point. LOL! Almost forgot that's all I wanted as well. I have been searching som much across the net looking for answers I started incorporating non-adjustables. Anyway...

So What about the spax/koni comparison.

Seems to me a lot of people are using spax. I have only seen one post where a rumor of possible reliability issue with spax was mentioned.
