Hi all,

Within the next month or two I will have my combo finalized, and hopefully in a state where I can have the car tuned. Below is a comparision of two combos, the first is my old combo and the power it made, second is going to be the new setup, and the power I hope to achieve. I am shooting for 600rwhp +,- 10rwhp with the second parts listing. Any opinions?

Old combo:
Stock 302 block + rotating assembly
Gt40X heads 3 angle valve job, mild exhaust runner cleanup
E303 with 1.72 rockers
Stock cobra intake upper/lower
65mm Tb
75mm mass air
Equal length shorty headers
bbk catalytic H pipe
Magnaflow catback.
D1SC Procharger with 3 core intercooler. Seeing 13 psi @6100rpm
MSD ignition
Larocca tuned
Tremec TKO with Spec Stage III clutch
3.73 rear with auburn pro diff.
Moser 31 spline axles
502rwhp 470ft/lbs
11.9@123mph on street tires, 1.9 60'

New combo
331 Dart Sportsman block
DSS pro-lite pistons with 9.2:1 c/r with 61 cc head
4340 forged crank and rods
28oz balanced
AFR 185 heads with upgraded valves and springs
Custom Ed Curtis blower cam
Holley Systemax II upper/lower intake
60# injectors with adequate fuel system
same exhaust setup
Tremec TKO, spec stage III, spec aluminum flywheel
Auburn pro diff, with moser 31 spline axles
reving motor to approx. 6400-6500rpm, with D1SC procharger
3 core intercooler
Hoping to see 12-13#' @6400rpm
Wanting 600rwhp after tuned @ Larocca's.
mid to low 10 second 1/4 mile times with ET streets, and drag suspension setup

So, my question is the above combo worth another 100rwhp over the old? Are my goals too high, or about on?
Thanks

Dan

Dan, that power should not be an issue with the second combo.

If you haven't bought the internals yet, I would go with a internal balance Eagle crank and go "0", it will be better on the bearings.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the reply. Its too late now for the 0 balance. The original motor I was going to go with was from Bennett racing, and was a 0 balance, however, I ended up working out a deal with DSS and all the parts I needed, for quite a few hundred less. Basically same parts, but a 28oz balance.

Looks like a good combo to me too. Just keep looking any buy a different clutch!!! DO NOT BUY A SPEC!! :notnice:

Never had an issue with SPEC's service when going through them direct (David Norton) or a good SPEC dealer. However this is not what this thread is about.... :OT:

I will add you may want to look into a SPEC Stage II disc with a modified friction material, the stage 3 is not really liked by Tremec..

What were the results?

That is easily low 10's. With you mph from your old combo you should have ran low 11's maybe even high 10's. What you need to do is get yourself suspension like you said you were gonna get.
i was thinking the same thing. my car i believe makes around 425 rear wheel on my juice and i ran a 11.5 at 116mph. i have basically no suspension mods. something is up with your times. either that or you have 500 extra pounds of stereo equipment in your car. i would say don't worry bout more power and worry on hooking the car up or transfering wieght around.
