So I just installed my new short shifter and it seems like when i shift into the next gear, it takes a sec for the gate to open up, then it slides in. Does it take a while for a new shifter to become broken in? Or do I need to adjust my clutch cable?

What kind of shifter?

What types of transmission?

If its a T45 did you set the shift stops?

Was the shifter put on correctly? Not saying that your dumb or anything just wanted to know who did it, and if they know what their doing?

Do that and we can help

its a pro 5.0 on a 98 GT so im pretty sure that means T45.....and the stop bolts are in however they are not set, i didnt screw them in far enough to impede the shift...so that shouldnt be the problem...

Is everything except the shift stops done?

Next step is to set those and go from there
