Ok i just did that ac inverter install right well i got the power and ground mixed up when i connected them into the cig lighter. So when i put power on my car and turned it on i heard a click from the engine and that was it. I take it out of run and or pull the key out i here a clicking under the dash near the fuse box. I checks the fuses inside the car have abitch of a time check the ones in the Engine. What did i blow what do i need to do to fix this i need to go to work in 10 hours....

Yes which brings me to my next issue... Power to the forward ciggerette lighter im not getting any voltage ist there specific fuse for this bad boy i dont see any blown ill need to find another 12v source i if i cannot find whats wrong with this lighter. i know i shorted it because when i hooked the inverter up the power was shorted to ground so all i did was make a loop. So where down this line can i look for a problem? I hope i didnt melt the line anywhere.

Yeah there's a fuse for the cig lighter ... do you have an owners manual? If so, open it and there is a fuse description page. Or if you have a worthless Haynes, it should have fuse info .. If you don't have either, I will go look at mine for you.

As for your battery looking nasty ... use baking soda stirred in warm water and get a brush. Keep rinsing off the funk. After you get all the acid build-up off and before you put on your new terminal connectors, get a terminal cleaning brush and clean them (they are cheap if you don't know). Before putting your terminals on, get some vaseline and put some on each terminal (will keep corrosion from coming back) ... Then, I recommend getting terminals like these:

The gold terminals conduct really well and they are not much $

Oh, and for the inverter ... I would recommend just running a 10 or 12 gauge wire from the battery into the car to run it. That way you could run an inline fuse, switch, etc ... and you would not have to worry about blowing fuses ... food for thought.
